Our feet carry us for a lifetime – and yet get little attention in everyday life. That is why foot massage has long had a firm place in the Chinese tradition. It is not only the soles that are massaged, but also the toes, the top of the foot, the ankles and the calves.
The foot bath to help you arrive
Every appointment with us begins with a warm foot bath. It cleanses and warms the feet, and for many guests it is the moment when everyday life falls away. Only then does the actual massage begin – so feet and mind are equally prepared.
30 or 60 minutes?
In 30 minutes you give your feet a short, soothing break. With 60 minutes there is far more time for feet and calves, and the towel-wrap technique is used at length. If you are on your feet a lot, the longer option is the better choice.
What the massage feels like
After the warm foot bath, your feet are soft and relaxed. Your therapist works with thumbs and fingers over the sole, heel and toes – sometimes with calm pressure, sometimes with strokes. Then it is the turn of the calves: oils and creams leave the skin supple, and the warm towel wraps around your legs. Many guests tell us they almost fall asleep.
Tips for your appointment
Ideally wear trousers that can be pushed up comfortably to the knee. Tell us if your feet are sensitive or if there is a spot you would like us to leave out. Allow yourself a few quiet minutes afterwards and drink plenty of water – the light feeling in your legs will last longer.
